Look up the formal definition lol. It broadens it to "A compulsive action to escape from an obsessive thought". The "Everything should be organized" stereotype is just the tip of the iceberg
S E S E The obsessive thought is that "it could be useful" instinct. They don't want to throw it away and then feel like they can't find it when they need it. The compulsive action is to keep everything, but also avoid activities that force them to think about it. That way they don't go through the "is it really useful" thought process that's so uncomfortableS E I didn't say that though, though I did oversimplify the main bits with "ignoring actvities". I'm saying one part is the urge to keep everything. The other part is avoiding cleaning, reogranizing and not prioritizing your immediate health and quality of life over the future use of items. Some people fight you and call you names for organizing their clutter, let alone throwing things out. The "ignoring" part I meant earlier is what makes it a disorder in my opinion. And yes, habit or behavior is not a disorderS
