The code is synchronous end to end (DRF + requests), so ASGI would only add overhead unless I rewrote it as async. Most of each request is spent waiting on TomTom and Open-Meteo, and threads handle that waiting well. Gunicorn with 2 workers × 4 threads serves 8 requests at once, and the real limit is the API quotas anyway. If I needed WebSockets or much higher concurrency, I'd switch to async views with uvicorn.
